Short-Term Use or Long-term Use:

Are you aware that short-term use
and long-term use require very different strategies?

Defining Our Terms:

Short term use, refers to you and your family being in your bunker for anywhere from a few hours up to about a month. Long-term use refers to residing in your bunker for months, or perhaps even a year or so.

Short-Term Use:

What are the more common reasons for which one might require entering and staying in a bunker? The answer will vary depending upon your location. Here are some of the more common short-term uses for a bunker system:

Long-Term Use:

            for two years.
   Accidental chemical, biological, radiological (nuclear) disbursement
          within the United States.

           Example:   The accidental release of a deadly virus or some other
            harmful, biological agents.
   A major Pandemic that kills a significant portion of the human
          population

Most of the above possibilities will not directly affect you or your bunker system. What they will do is trigger social and political chaos. This could result in many people becoming desperate because they would be totally unprepared for the emergency.

The Major Dangers in Long-term Bunker Survival:

There are three groups of people that you don't want knowing that your bunker even exists.

1) Individuals or Small Gangs of Desperate Criminals: In a long-term emergency situation, one of the main concerns will be hungry, desperate people with guns and hungry desperate people with guns, military weapons, and military training. In American society today, there hundreds of thousands of people who have been trained in the use of weapons -- weapons and training that have the capacity to breach the security of you single family bunker.

2) Employees: Another significant concern is the government and corporate employees who have access to information about you and/or your bunker.

There are two ways to counter these problems, one is secrecy. If they don't know you are there you are safe. The other is to be part of a community safe-haven community that has a bunker structure that is designed to deal with intruders and a security force that can eliminate most outside attackers.

3) The most dangerous group of people are those who control government agencies. Second, is to be part of a safe-haven community that has been constructed in ways to counter this type of intrusion and also has a trained security force that can make breaching you security system difficult for outside intruders.
